Alan Burr has over 30 years’ experience of financial markets. He specialises in the securities and derivatives industry, with particular expertise in the establishment of new markets, trading and in the disciplines and procedures of clearing and settlement. He has substantial experience as both a marketing and general manager with clearing houses, exchanges across international markets and in the management of IT. Alan has worked extensively with international clients and overseas.
Following 20 successful years with The London Clearing House until 1992 during which Alan was Chief Executive in Hong Kong and Executive Director in London, he joined MEFF, the Spanish Financial Futures Exchange, as its International Director. He is now an independent advisor offering a broad range of client services. Alan is well known as a consultant and trainer on securities, commodities and derivatives, clearing and settlement, financial regulation, custody, risk management and operations plus many other related subjects.
He is the principal of London-based Burr & Company, founded in 1993. The firm was a founder associate member of The Futures and Options Association (FOA). Burr & Company provides management, consulting, training and marketing services to international customers – exchanges, banks brokers and fund managers and has a wide circle of associates in the UK and internationally.
Alan is a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute (FSI), for whom he is an accredited trainer and fulfils an active supporting role in the work of the institute.
